DRAFT
Privacy
DRAFT for review. This page is not legal advice and it makes no legal claims. It lists what the site stores.
- Chats, including the messages you and the assistant exchange.
- Email, when you sign in or when you type it for a callback.
- Photos you attach to a chat.
- If you tap Help: report a glitch, a copy of that chat, its photo links and your note, for review. If you are asked whether a fix worked, your answer.
- Phone, when you give it for a callback. If you are signed in it is kept on your account for next time.
- An address, only if you add one for a visit after asking for a person. It is kept on that chat for the technician, and on your account only if you tick Keep it on my account or save it in your profile. Clear the profile box to remove it.
- If you are asked how a job went: your rating (1 to 5), who fixed it, and their name if you type it.
- If you are signed in and tell us a fix worked: a short note of the device, the date, the fault and the last step tried, kept on your account as your home tech manual.
- If you pay for Pro or for remote support, Stripe handles the payment and your card details. We keep your plan, your subscription status and Stripe's customer and subscription references on your account, and on a chat a note that remote support was paid (amount and Stripe reference).
- If you sign in with an email link, your email address is kept on this device only until you open the link.
- We count prompts and photos per plan each month, with no chat text, to check what the service costs to run.
- Alert tokens, if you turn on notifications, so a reply can reach that device.
- If you ask for a trusted local trade: which trade you looked at and your town, and your email if you are signed in, so we can ask later how it went (one push, then at most one email, sent from reviews@asksmartfix.com through Apple iCloud+ Mail, with an unsubscribe link). If you answer: whether you used them, your stars (1 to 5) and your comment.
- If you tap Rate SmartFix: your stars (1 to 5) and your comment.
- Outages & extra info: a postcode or ZIP you type, or your location if you press Use my location, is used once to pick local outage notices and is not stored (a typed postcode is remembered on this device only). If a chat says a provider or the power is down, we keep that chat's id, the provider and the area (postcode district or town) for one hour to spot local outages; no chat text is kept for this.
- Which expert answered a chat (for example Broadband or Plumbing), kept with that chat. If no expert covers a question, a short topic label (such as "garden machinery") is kept for 30 days so we can see what to add; no chat text is kept for this.
- If you sign in with Google, Microsoft, Facebook, X or Yahoo, that account gives us your name and email address, and nothing else.
While you chat, the server may read an approximate area from the network, not a precise address. That area is a hint for the reply. It is not stored on your account.
Card payments for Pro are handled by Stripe and SmartFix does not see or store card numbers.
